There are significant benefits of using stainless steel angles in your next construction project that fulfil a range of different requirements and needs.

With the capacity to be manufactured into equal and unequal angles, available in both imperial and metric measurements, the pros of using these structural profiles are numerous. Produced using a range of techniques, including hot-rolling mills and laser wedding lines, stainless steel angles are worth the investment and will benefit your project in a number of ways.

Corrosion resistant characteristics

First and foremost, stainless steel angles are corrosion resistant. Regardless of the industry or the project specifics, structural profiles need to last. Fortunately, the corrosion resistant properties of stainless steel angles, in addition to their appealing aesthetic and durability, makes them the ideal choice for a broad range of applications.

The profile is particularly useful for external projects that may be exposed to the elements on a daily basis as it protects again rust and erosion. Using stainless steel angles can also help protect other materials from damage when used to reinforce an existing project.

Superior support

Thanks to their corrosion resistant properties and flexibility of use, stainless steel angles can provide structural support across a range of industries and projects, no matter the size or location. While these profiles tend to be more expensive than using wood or galvanised steel for example, the superior properties of stainless steel angles will see them outlast other choices.

The benefits of their use can be widely seen across the transport, architecture, marine, as well as residential and non residential construction industries.

Unparalleled choice

With a great variety of stainless steel angles to choose from there is likely to be one that suits your project perfectly. Hot-rolling, cold-rolling, cold-drawing, laser-welding and press-braking are just some of the methods that can be used to manufacture the angle that you’re looking for. Each of these methods offers it’s own unique range of benefits including tolerance, grade, aesthetic appeal and cost-efficiency.

The production of hot-rolled stainless steel angles, for example, is extremely cost-efficient and therefore the perfect choice for larger projects that require the finest structural support. If you’re not sure which profile is right for you then Montanstahl can guide you on your specific needs. Even if you require something non-standard, Montanstahl’s manufacturing technology can produce custom sections that match your needs entirely.

Types of stainless steel

By definition, all steel with a minimum chromium content of 10.5% is considered a stainless steel, however there are a variety of different types and grades that fall within this category. Popular types of stainless steel include ferritic, austenitic, duplex, super austenitic, martensitic and precipitation-hardening.

They can also be manufactured in a variety of grades with the most common being 304L (1.4307) and 316L (1.4404). The grade 304L is often used in low corrosive atmospheres. The grade 316L has greater corrosion resistant properties (thanks to the addition of molybdenum) which makes it ideal for construction projects that will face the elements or be situated close to the coast.
