Peter Jones launches capital and fund for budding entrepreneurs

Established by the Dragons’ Den entrepreneur The Enterprise Business Challenge is designed to support and encourage aspiring entrepreneurs and fledgling start-ups by making sure that those with innovative and robust business ideas get the support they need to progress.

The Enterprise Business Challenge, which closes on July 2nd, requires each entrant to submit a written online proposal outlining their business case at www.peterjones.tv. Those looking to really impress have the option of completing a three minute online video pitch. Ten shortlisted candidates will then be invited to take part in Dragons’ Den style face-to-face pitch, led by Jones and be made up of key investors and experts from the worlds of finance, marketing, human resources.

The winner will receive £10,000 in working capital as well as advice and consultancy from leading firms including Olswang Legal, accountancy firm Grant Thornton U.K LLP, International trading advice from Alibaba, PR consultancy from Blue Rubicon and HR Corporate Support from Ellis Whittam.

Peter Jones said: “Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the dynamo that drives the British economy. The Enterprise Business Challenge is for all those entrepreneurs and innovative start-up businesses that need a helping hand to get started. Now more than ever, we need to encourage and work alongside SMEs and entrepreneurs to stimulate economic growth from within and make sure that great business opportunities and great British business talent isn’t missed.

“My single biggest passion today is working to unlock the potential of the next generation of entrepreneurs. Because to coin a phrase, Britain’s’ got talent, we just need to work harder to unlock that talent. That’s why in 2009, the Peter Jones Foundation launched the National Enterprise Academy – a unique place of learning dedicated to training the next generation of young entrepreneurs. And that’s why I have no doubt The Enterprise Business Challenge will uncover some remarkable ideas and businesses.

“I really excited about the potential The Enterprise Business Challenge offers to create new links between Britain’s rising entrepreneurs and our National Enterprise Academy students – the entrepreneurs of the future.”
